Information about the
Meriden Soccer Club

Welcome to the Meriden Soccer Club. We are dedicated to providing children the skills to enjoy soccer today and tomorrow. We believe in an age-appropriate developmental approach towards teaching soccer. We provide professional instruction from 4 to 12 years of age. The focus for these players are to develop foot skills and an understanding of the laws of the game. Emphasis is on fun and development. We provide in-town development up to the age of 10,  travel play for recreation 10 to 14 years of age, and competition level for players from 11 to 19 years of age.

When registering you child please provide a copy of your child's birth certificate. The registration forms are posted on our website. Registration for the spring of 2010 will close at the end of February as we need time to order your child a full uniform, hire instructors, and set-up and maintain the soccer fields. Your fees are spent on the development of your children.

Coaches will practice at least once a week for our U-6 players and at least twice a week for U-8 and above. The practices are determined by the individual coaches. U-6 to U-12 will practice at Kronenberger Field located of Maple Street across from the east side Lowes in Meriden. Practices for other division will occur at Falcon Field, Midstate Field, Nathan Hale School and Columbus Park.

Games at Kronenberger have bathrooms and a concession stand. The concession stand was built and maintained by the Meriden Soccer Club. Fundraisers occur throughout the year to offset the cost of providing quality equipment, instructors, and referees. Currently, we do not have keys to the concession stand or bathroom facilities at Falcon Field.

General Meetings occur each month at the Meriden YMCA (downtown) at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Please check the general meeting schedule sections. Meetings can change due to availability of the room and club needs. Coaches' meetings occur at 7:30 on the same night as the general meeting.

We are affiliated with the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association and are guided by state and national regulations.

All players must have shin guards, cleats, water bottle and a soccer ball for each game and practice. U-6 and U8 use a #3 ball. U-10 and U-12 use a #4 ball and U-14 and above use a #5 ball. For the younger players, Dick’s sporting goods has a very reasonable package.

MSC offers a double season registration in May. The discounted price signs your child up for both the fall and spring season. Single spring prices are usually determined in September.

Coaches post information on the Exchange section of our site (right bottom) to inform their players of practices, games, schedule changes, directions, etc.

All volunteers and coaches must file a disclosure form on the CJSA site to be allowed to work with children.

We strongly believe players should play in their age-appropriate division. No U-10 player can play on a U-11 or up divisions. Request to play up a division is highly discouraged and can only be granted in rare situations (President/acting president only).  A U-11 player cannot play in a U-10 in-town team.
